On this week's episode of Fastpitch Friday, I discuss a simple solution to help clean up a lazy glove side.
"Flying open" too soon can result not only can result in huge energy leaks but can disrupt a player's explosive tempo. If a softball player repeatedly flies open to early while making a throw across the diamond, this can equate to more arm drag, which can place more stress on the anterior shoulder resulting in inaccurate throws.
Use the 1-arm medicine ball decelerations with a band to help athletes learn how to brace with their front side while creating a solid glove side.
